Genetics Services of W.A

This multi-disciplinary service offers the full range of diagnostic, educational and training programmes relevant to the modern practice of medical genetics.

Services are provided by clinical geneticists and counsellors working with DNA and cytogenetics laboratories and associated disciplines such as diagnostic imaging and obstetrics. The protocols and procedures accord with the Human Genetic Society of Australasia for Genetic Service.

Referrals can be via GP/specialist; hospital inpatient/outpatient or self-referral. Indications for referral may include familial clustering of a specific cancer e.g. breast, bowel particularly with 2 or more affected first degree relatives with a young age onset; an individual with features suggestive of a specific genetic disorder. Inquiries regarding testing should be directed to Genetics Services of WA on (08) 9340 1525.
