Lymphoedema and repeated infections- what to do?

Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has a resource document (2024) covering What is Lymphoedema? that you may wish to discuss with your GP regarding suspect lymphoedema and what tests may be conducted to assess your swelling.

Australasian Lymphology Association (peak body for lymphoedema in Australia and New Zealand) has published a position statement (August 2026) on “Management of Cellulitis in Lymphoedema/Chronic Oedema” for doctors and health providers.

There is also an information flyer on “Understanding Celllulitis in Lymphoedema and Cjronic Swelling” for members of the public, patients and their family.

Call 08 9383 3838 or Book an appointment online with LK Lymphoedema Centre for professional support for an assessment and management of swelling. This may be following unresolved swelling after 3 months in head-neck cancer, post-op knee replacement, slow-to-heal leg ulcers, leaky legs or after repeated infections has resolved (also known as recurrent cellulitis). You may ask your doctor to complete a referral for you if your medical history is complex.
